Dibuai Janji Kenyalang-Feature Drama
A Sarawak-set drama directed by Rashid Salleh, rooted in Bornean folklore and shot almost entirely on an LED volume. The story moves between dense rainforest, riverside longhouses, limestone caves and night roads — locations that would have meant weeks of remote travel for a full crew and cast.
Lucid Depth Studio built every one of those worlds in Unreal Engine 5. Rainforest levels were assembled with layered canopy, volumetric light shafts and ground fog that reacts to the tracked camera; the cave system was sculpted and lit to match physical rock pieces on the stage floor so the transition from set to screen disappears in camera. On set, our team ran the environments live and supported the camera department with tracking calibration and lens sync, allowing the director to change weather, time of day and lighting direction between takes rather than between shooting days.

AF7 — Horror Anthology
AF7 brings Malaysia’s long-forgotten stories to screen as a series of horror chapters, each with its own world: a mist-choked forest, an abandoned hospital corridor, a derelict railway yard and a crashed vehicle at night.
Rather than dressing multiple locations, the production shot on a single LED stage. Lucid Depth Studio delivered each environment as an Unreal Engine 5 level tuned to the volume — deep-teal atmospheric fog, practical-matched light sources and camera-reactive parallax — so physical set pieces such as the vehicle and rail track could be placed in front of the wall and extended seamlessly into the screen.
Our on-set team handled camera-to-volume synchronisation throughout, keeping the tracked camera locked to the wall for the moving shots that horror relies on: slow pushes, whip pans and handheld work through fog. Backgrounds were captured in camera, freeing the VFX budget for the practical and digital effects that carry the scares.

Looped — A Century of Cinema
Looped — A Silent Witness to a Century of Cinema is a short film produced under the Malaysia Virtual Production Originals (MYVIRTUO) programme organised by MDEC, tracing the journey of filmmaking in Malaya and Malaysia from hand-cranked cameras to digital archives.
The story demanded a century of worlds in a single shoot: a 1930s shophouse street, a museum of cinema, a vast digital archive corridor and a science-fiction planet surface. Lucid Depth Studio built each of them as a real-time Unreal Engine 5 environment for the LED volume, matching period detail, scale and lighting so the actor could move from decade to decade without leaving the stage.
Our team supported the shoot on set, keeping the tracked camera synchronised with the wall for the film’s long walking shots and dolly moves, and adjusting environment lighting live to match the practical fixtures on the floor. Holographic timeline graphics and archive elements were finished in post by our VFX team.

Why It Matters
Cinematic worlds, delivered in camera — on schedule and without the location.
Time — Rainforests, caves, a 1930s street and another planet, shot on one stage over consecutive days instead of weeks across locations.
Control — Weather, time of day and lighting direction changed between takes from the Unreal Engine 5 operator’s desk.
Quality — Actors lit by the environment itself, with real reflections and parallax that green screen cannot match in camera.
Budget — Backgrounds finished on set, so post-production spend goes to the effects that make the story, not to compositing.
